It should be noted that the ISO 45001:2018 standard is applicable to any institution or organization that desires to have an OH&S management system. The system seeks to enhance workplace safety, rule out any hazards and reduce any kind of OH&S risks (including shortfall in the system), benefit from the OH&S opportunities and look at any lapses associated with the activities stipulated.
The ISO 45001:2018 standard is of great help to an organization that seeks to attain the desired results of its OH& S management system in adherence to the organization’s policy.
It is important to highlight here that the standard is applicable to the OH&S risks that are under the regulations of the organization. These standards have to be implemented taking into consideration factors such as scope of the operation and the needs and aspirations of the workers and other stakeholders.
The standard neither stipulates any specific criteria for the performance, design of the OH&S system nor focuses on issues such as product safety, damage of property or the environmental impacts that are beyond risks to the employees and other stakeholders. It should also be noted that the ISO 45001:2018 can be utilized fully or in part to meticulously enhance workplace health and safety management. The acceptance and conformance to this standard will not be deemed as conformance unless all the requirements are included in the organization’s OH&S management system and fully adhered to without any exclusion.
