OSHA -Occupational Health Safety and Training

Occupational Health Safety and Training

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), also commonly referred to as occupational safety, is an expansive field covering all aspects of safety, health, and welfare of people in different kinds of occupations. The goal of this training program is to provide an overview of OSHA and to explain how to foster a safe and healthy occupational environment by ensuring that all stipulated rules and regulations are complied with. For this special training, outreach, and help should be provided to all companies.
In 1970, the Occupational Safety and Health Act set up OSHA which was instituted to execute and enforce strict laws at all workplaces to provide for a safe and healthy ambience for the workforce. There are specific OSHA standards for different industries: construction, agriculture, maritime and general industry. It is the responsibility of companies or employers to follow all the clauses laid down under the act and ensure that the work environment is first and foremost free of any recognised hazards.
What the training entails?
The law promises all a safe workplace and it is the duty of every employer to keep the workplace free of any hazards. The employee also has the right to speak about any adversity he/she might be facing without any fear of being hurt or being caused any damage. The training program offers participants lessons in what are stipulations and rights of the employee vis-à-vis workplace safety.

Employee rights are as follows:

• Get training in safety and health in the language that the employee is well-versed in
• It is the employee’s right to work only safe machines
• Get gloves, harnesses and life-saving equipment to prevent hazards
• Stay protected from toxic chemicals
• An employee can also seek help of an OSHA inspector’s intervention
• Get copies of the medical records in case of an injury or an illness at workplace
• Right to review reports of any work related sickness or injuries
• Right to study the results of the tests taken to see if there have been any workplace hazards
